80s Album Art Recreated in CSS

Thinking about how so much of what was cutting edge graphic design in the 80s is now so easy to achieve by anyone with a computer, I set myself the pointless geek challenge to re-create album covers of the 80s using only html and CSS. My rule was that I would be allowed 1 un-photoshoped photograph per album, and that the HTML without CSS must be readable as the name of the band and album.

Here's how I got on.

(Click the "Turn CSS off/on" button to see each one without CSS)

Grace Jones
Slave to the rhythm

The Human League
Talking Heads
Remain in Light

Pet Shop Boys

Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark
Arichitecture & Morality

Bruce Springsteen
Joy Division

Duran Duran
Big Thing

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not accept :before, :after and transform css styles. So, here are some screengrabs of how the other albums would look if you were using a decent browser.
